Carolyn Lewis has a master's degree in Rehab Counseling; She worked in psychiatric hospitals as crisis counselor and as a psy tech, She’s been an alcoholism counselor and shift supervisor in a detox facility and worked in a prison; She did a 6-month internship for her master’s in a juvenile locked facility, a pilot program for the worst offenders in the criminal system.

She has worked as a DV counselor in a shelter for women and children, and for 25 years was an investigator for Child Protective Services. She also was a foster parent.

She is mother of two, with 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She felt she was most effective, in investigations, at keeping kids out of the system and educating the parents.
